Dear President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and dear deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine!The government of Independent Tatarstan recognizes the Holodomor - mass famine in Ukraine in the 20-30s of the XX century as an act of genocide by the leadership of the USSR against the people of Ukraine.
The people of Tatarstan take the pain of the fraternal Ukrainian people to heart, because the Turkic and Finno-Ugric peoples of Idel-Ural and Kazakhstan, like the Ukrainian, were subjected to the same act of genocide in the 20-30s of the XX century. The genocide was directed primarily against the indigenous non-Russian peoples of the USSR, mass famine contributed to a change in the ethnographic picture in Ukraine, the Volga region and Kazakhstan. Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Kazan Tatars, Siberian Tatars, Chuvashs, Bashkorts, Erzyas, Maris, Mokshans, Udmurts, Kazakhs and Belarusians became a minority on their land.
We remind you that Putin is now acting by Stalin's methods, destroying food in Ukraine - Muscovy recently struck at the port infrastructure on the Black Sea. After that, the politicians of the West are actively talking about the famine. And in parallel with this, they are also actively promoting the narrative about the likelihood of a Ukrainian “Holodomor 2.0.” These two points: global famine and a possible Ukrainian famine are closely intertwined. The West knows for sure that a food problem, including famine in some regions in the near future, is inevitable.
The crime of the communist regime is a continuation of the colonial policy of the Russian Empire to destroy and assimilate non-Russian peoples. The current Russian-Ukrainian war also sets as its main goal a change in the ethnographic map of Eurasia: the destruction of not only the Ukrainian people, but also the colonized peoples of the Russian Federation, whom the Moscow authorities use in the war with Ukraine like cannon fodder.
Recognizing the act of genocide of the Ukrainian people in the 20-30s of the 20th century, the Tatar people, represented by the Government of Independent Tatarstan, demonstrate their readiness to de-occupy, decolonize, de-communize Idel-Ural and start building a legal sovereign state of Tatarstan based on democratic principles, humanism and respect for the rights of all peoples.
